Dr Rudolf Frei, the chairman of the NRI Foundation, has more than 40 years experience in risk management and has worked as risk consultant in more than 120 different companies. In 1984, he joined Mettler-Toledo as the head of the Environmental, Safety and Health department in Grifensee. In 1987, he became the first director of the Environmental and Chemical Administration of Basel. He joined Swiss Re in 1994 and, from 2002 until 2007, he was the company's Group Operational Risk Manager. Dr Frei now works in Switzerland as a consultant (Risconsult).

Dr John Kingston is a member of academic staff at the Safety Science Group of TU Delft in the Netherlands. His research focuses on accident investigation and regulation of risk, principally with respect to occupational and public safety. Dr Kingston also heads a company based in The UK (John Kingston Ltd) which provides training and consultancy services in accident investigation and risk management. He works in a variety of sectors: Aerospace, Fire and Rescue Services, Government and Oil & Gas production.
